We booked the Hotel Carter for them because it was cheap (they're paying for the hotel but I booked it so I chose a cheap one to save them money) and they are coming in from the west coast (Vancouver, BC). We would only be staying in NYC for one night with a tour group from Toronto so we could only see each other for that long. I was wondering if Hotel Carter is a upper class hotel? Because I looked at the building's pictures and it seemed reasonable for a $100 per night hotel to me. moreResolved Question: Ideas for planning a trip to Canada?
Planning to fly (from NZ) to Canada in July. Staying with friends in Vancouver for a week and hoping to catch a train/bus to Seattle in that time, maybe for two nights. Back to Vancouver and catching the train to Saskatoon to see another friend. I'll be doing my own investigation of course but info from travelers and locals much appreciated Qs: What do you suggest seeing in Vancouver? Any youth hostels/cheap hotels you can recommend in Seattle? What are the 'must sees' in Seattle for a two day trip? And I really know very little about Saskatoon at all. Anything at all much appreciated. moreResolved Question: Making a travel decision for my family, what would you do?
In August we are going on a family vacation across the country. We have a decision to make about hotels and driving and I wanted your opinions on what you would do. It most likely is a simple decision but hearing your thoughts is great. We have 2 choices, either to fly straight from our town and wait in Vancouver for 2 hours, then fly to Montreal and over night there until the following night at 8pm, which gets us to our final destination at midnight.(so a 24 hour wait in a city that I know nothing about) Or we can leave here the day before and drive 3 hours to another city, and get to our final destination that evening at midnight. And then when we are on our return trip we will have the 3 hours drive at the end of all that flying. The second option is cheaper but we will have a 16 month old and I am not sure how he'll like the drive. And at the same time, having to find a hotel in Montreal...and none of us speak french...might even be worse. What would you do...which way would you decide for your family and what reasons? Asking again because it doesn't seem to be posting.... I guess it did post...lol thanks though, this one I can actually see! Loving being a mommy: I totally didn't think about checking out of a hotel at noon...that made my decision right there. Going with number 2! Thanks everyone moreResolved Question: A travel decision to make what would you do?

I have always wanted to go see British Columbia. It is my favourite province but I have never been. I just think it is the most beautiful place in the world and I really want to experience the natural beauty that is there. i found this great national park called Glacier national Park and I thought it would be a really cool vacation spot for my family for next summer. I told my parents about it but they still won't give in because they are concerned about cost and when they can go because they're too busy. I already figured all this out and I found a great hotel that is right on the park and very cheap for a family of 5. I even found out plane tickets to calgary and taxi prices to the park(I figured it would be cheaper to fly to calgary since it is closer instead of Vancouver). I even picked out a long weekend when they don't work but they still wont give in!! Even after I was able to find all the reasons why they said and was able to resolve them Now I'm determined to get them to give in, i'm making a slide show now and planning to present it to them tomorrow but it is there any other way that I can get them to change their mind? I'm planning for a summer trip with 2 friends (around 1 month) to Hong Kong and I'm not sure how much cash I should carry with me. Flight + hotel will be taken care of beforehand. I'll have credit and debit cards with me. (banks like CIBC, Scotiabank) I'll be going from Vancouver BC to HK, so should I carry say about $200-300 Canadian with me? Or should I carry more to do exchanges AT HongKong instead of doing it beforehand in Vancouver. How much cash in HK dollars should I bring? Coverage for cheap/fair quality food, shopping, transportation, and a few tourist destinations like Oceanpark? I've heard that it's easier to open an HSBC account (whether here, or in HK) because it'll make buying things, transferring and exchange rates simpler/easier? Also, how much should I use creditcards in HK? I heard there might be some hassles due to extra service charges/conversion rates? Any help, or website links is appreciated! Thanks! To one of the posters below: I think (is it?) because I said that flight and accomodation costs are excluded? I was wondering more about the total of daily expenses, and I will calculate hotel and flight cost separately. USD and CAD are around $1, so pretty much the same conversion rate to HKD right now from what I know. Such good answers, I'm just going to wait and see if anyone has anymore replies before I choose. Anymore advices? Thank-you!!!! moreResolved Question: Vacation to HongKong?
I'm just wondering how much money I should set aside for things like food, transportation and hotel for an approximately 1-month trip to Hong Kong during the summer? Rough estimates in Canadian or HK dollars will be okay. Food - cheap/fair food is fine, I might go to a fancier place 2-3 times. Is $1000 Cdn enough? Hotel - midrange (places like Holiday Inn?) in area w/ easy transportation access and central to popular places? I think there's a Holiday InnExpress at like Causeway Bay...those type of locations? >> Friend did quick search, around Cdn. $2000 min. per person for 1 room, 2 beds? Transportation - I heard its HK150 (or ~20? Cdn/US) for purchase of a Octopus card? If used only for transport to popular areas, is $200 Cdn enough? Any advice/help/website links are appreciated!
